Vijayakumar is a senior Kollywood film artiste in Chennai. He has played a variety of films and is a 'cult' favourite. At his peak, it was thought a perfect film needed Vijayakumar in the supporting cast. He has two wives and five children.

He has acted as friend,villain,brother and father of his contemporary star Rajnikanth at various points in time of his film career.
