Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran

Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran is a science correspondent for The Economist covering health care and the pharmaceutical industry. He formerly served as The Economist's environment and energy correspondent, and as its first staff correspondent in Latin America, in Mexico City. Born in Madras, India, he grew up in Cheshire, Connecticut, and graduated from MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering. He lives in New York City.

In 2005 he published the book Power for the People, How the Coming Energy Revolution will Change our Lives, and maybe even Save the Planet, and he is co-writing a forthcoming book on the future of the car. He is a frequent commentator on science-policy issues on television and radio.
