Viewbank, once called Rosanna East, is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Its Local Government Area is the City of Banyule.

The Yarra River and large tracts of parkland run along one border of the suburb. Viewbank's public schools are Viewbank Primary School, Banyule Primary School and Viewbank College (formerly Rosanna East High School, merging with Banyule High School in 1994). Its northern boundary takes in the housing estate of Streeton Views, built on reclaimed land from neighbouring Army Barracks. Viewbank's many parks include Price Park and Castleton Park.

It is home to several strips of commercial dwellings, including an area on Martins Lane adjacent to Viewbank Primary School.

[edit] History

The area was primarily established around the 1960s, and has played host to several new housing developments during the 1990s and 2000s, including the end of Martins Lane, Winston Hills and Streeton Views.

[edit] Famous Residents

Australian Olympic Runner Tamsyn Lewis attended Rosanna East High School (now Viewbank College) in the early-mid 1990s.
