Videomaker Magazine is published by York Publishing Inc. and privately owned by Matt York and Patrice York. The company was founded in mid-1985 in Peterborough, New Hampshire and hit the newsstands in June of 1986. In late 1986, the company moved to Chico, Ca. Through the years, York Publishing has expanded its product offerings, staff and influence. The Yorks preside over the company as Publisher and Associate Publisher. Twenty-five employees work together to write, design, market and sell for Videomaker Magazine.

Videomaker.com was launched in 1994 as an online resource for videographers. The website is consistently updated with current news, reviews, products, and blog. Videomaker.com also hosts a weekly vidcast (video podcast) titled Videomaker Presents. Each week the editorial staff puts together a show featuring news, product reviews, tips and techniques, reader-submitted videos and other segments related to videography. Videomaker is the first magazine in the industry to present weekly vidcasts to the public.

In addition to the print magazine and website, Videomaker organizes several events throughout the year. Videomaker Summit, a two-day event held twice a year; one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast, where attendees can choose from numerous seminars relating to all aspects of video production. Regional, one-day Conferences are held in various major cities in the U.S. Three-day, hands-on Workshops are held at the headquarters where attendees learn from the pros and experience all phases of video production.

Videomaker empowers people to make video in a way that inspires, encourages and equips for success; we do this by building a community of readers, web visitors, viewers, attendees and marketers. – Company Mission Statement
