Victoria Park is a railway station on the Hurstbridge and Epping lines in Abbotsford, Melbourne, Australia. Typically, trains running on the Hurstbridge line run express through Victoria Park, and trains on the Epping line will stop.

Victoria Park was once a busy station as it was the closest station from McHale Stadium, former home of the Collingwood Football Club. Large numbers of people used Victoria Park station to travel to and from matches played at the stadium. In 1998 Collingwood football club moved all its home games from McHale Stadium(then Victoria Park) to the Melbourne Cricket Ground, thus lowering station patronage considerably. The station is elevated, is in Metcard Zone 1 and is unmanned.

[edit] History

Victoria Park station opened in 1888 as Collingwood Station (not to be confused with the present Collingwood Station). Between 1888 and 1901 it was the terminus of the Collingwood to Heidelberg railway line. Until a direct connection with the Melbourne Central Business District was made in 1901 between Princes Bridge and Collingwood, the only connection to the city centre was via the Inner Circle. A former goods yard is adjacent to the station.
