[edit] Biography

According to an article by Francis Wilkins in the Lawyers Weekly (a publication of the NSW Law Society) on 26th April 2001, Zammit was born in Europe and educated in Sydney, Australia. He worked in the courts for many years then became a specialist in Corporations Law and a consultant and lecturer. Before that he worked in the Local Courts, District Courts and in the Supreme Court in Sydney, Australia.

[edit] Human rights

The same article mentions Victor Zammit's longstanding interest in human rights and social justice. He was a human rights campaigner 1970-90 and a member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee of NSW (Australia) 1979/80. He organized demonstrations in Sydney against violations of Human Rights in different countries including demonstrations in 1979/1980 protesting against the taking of American hostages in Iran.

[edit] Wayside Chapel

For several years he volunteered his professional services as a meetings coordinator and chairperson at Sydney’s Wayside Chapel. He worked closely with a spiritually radical Rev. Ted Noffs, and was influenced by his teaching of universal consciousness and tolerance of all religions and non religionists.

[edit] $1 million challenge

Victor’s absolute conviction led him to organize sponsors to offer one million dollars to anyone who could rebut the existing empirical evidence for the afterlife. Conditions of the challenge were changed on 6th November 2006. Details of the updated challenge can be found at http://www.victorzammit.com/skeptics/challenge.html

Unlike the similar challenges offered by skeptics of paranormal abilities and their purported evidence for the afterlife, Zammit's challenge does not require demonstrating a clearly defined claimed paranormal ability in an unambiguous testing situation mutually agreed to, but rather convincing a committee of "people expert in afterlife evidence" to agree that their claimed evidence has been rebutted "beyond any doubt."

[edit] Reply to religions: Christianity and Judaism

His website contains three open letters: first an open letter to Pope Ratzinger [1] Secondly to Rev Dr Billy Graham [2] Thirdly, to Rabbi Boteach [3].

[edit] Articles

Victor has published on his webpage a number of articles, using his skills as a lawyer, to rebut the anti-psychic / anti-psi statements made by some of the giants of contemporary science including:

  • Reply to Prof R Dawkins [4]
  • Reply to Prof. Carl Sagan [5]
  • Reply to critics of Sir William Crookes [6]
  • Reply to critics of Electronic Voice Phenomena [7]
  • Reply to two skeptical professors who ‘tested’ the skills of a Russian psychic [8]
  • Reply to materialist claims that Near Death Experiences are simply physiological reactions of the dying brain. [9]
  • "Why debunkers have lost credibility." [10]
