Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Vic Grassi is Debbie Novotny's brother and Michael's uncle. Until the fourth season, he primarily lives with Debbie. Like Michael, Vic is gay. However, he is HIV positive and in the first episode, after returning from a trip through Europe, found out that he wasn't as close to death as he thought. Vic also gave Justin his ID card to get into Babylon. Emmett hires him to work at his catering company for a short period of time.

In the fourth season, Vic moves out with his boyfriend. Debbie, mad at not being invited to a dinner party, gets into a huge argument with him. The following morning, Michael comes to visit, and finds him dead due to complications from his HIV medications. His death causes Debbie to feel extreme guilt, and even go as far as to throw a Christmas party for him in February. However, in the end, she realizes that Vic wouldn't want her to live her life this way, and with some help from Detective Horvath, moves on.

Brian, on the other hand, has several visions of Uncle Vic after his death, mainly after Brian finds out he has testicular cancer. Vic appears in his dreams, telling him if he lives through this, he'll die "an old queen" like he did, or he could die young and get into a heaven with plenty of good-looking gay men. After intensive chemotherapy, and conquering cancer, Vic stops showing up to Brian and in the series altogether.
