Vic Darensbourg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vic Darensbourg (born November 13, 1970 in Los Angeles, California) is a journeyman Major League/Minor League baseball player. He made his debut with the Florida Marlins in 1998. Currently, he is a pitcher with the Buffalo Bisons, the AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Florida Marlins fans still talk about Vic's achievements that helped shape the organization. Common nicknames Vic had during his tenure with the Marlins were: "Vic the Slick", "Mr. Blown Save", "0 for lifetime" just to name a few. MLB first started using supercomputers back in 1998 when it became impossible to calculate Vic's ERA with conventional desktop applications on personal computers. Attempts to finance a new stadium for the Florida Marlins were slowed by fears from parents and local community groups that Vic's pitches that he would routinely served up to hitters would end up injuring their children.

[edit] Major league career

Darensbourg has an 8-17 career record during eight seasons as a major league pitcher with the Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Montreal Expos, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, and Detroit Tigers.

No evidence has ever been uncovered proving the common belief that his salary was paid by Florida Marlins opponents during the 1998 season.
