VicRoads (Victorian Roads Corporation) is a subordinate authority which is the State's road and traffic authority in Victoria, Australia.
Vicroads was formed in 1989 when the existing Road Traffic Authority and the Road Construction Authority were merged to form the Roads Corporation. The name Vicroads was adopted as a trading name. [1] It derives its authority from the Part III of the Transport Act 1983. [2] The main Vicroads administration facility is located in the Melbourne suburb of Kew, on the site of the former Kew Railway Station, with other metropolitan administration based in Burwood, Sunshine and Camberwell. Regional offices are located in Bendigo and Ballarat, among others. In addition Vicroads operates many offices servicing the public in registration and licensing throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. [3]
