[edit] Song information
The song is a jazzy/funk track. The popular bass loops are what makes the song catchy.
To the surprise of Abdul's fans the single only made it to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Abdul's first single to not be able to make the top ten since the original release of (It's Just) The Way That You Love Me in 1988. Many considered this the beginning of the decline of Abdul's music career.
The song was also performed at the 1991 MTV Video Music Awards. The performance was labeled a disaster. Many allegations at the time of lip-synching because of the lawsuit that was going on between Abdul's label and Yvette Marine, because of that Abdul sang live and since the track is a difficult song to replicate in performance and doing choreography at the same time Abdul's vocals were considered underwhelming.
At the time the media often trashed Abdul and joked about her recent slight weight gain the revealing outfit didn't help the vicious rumors.
Abdul even felt the performance was a disaster by yanking the performance from future re-runs of the award show. She also joked about the performance on The Arsenio Hall Show by calling her microphone a battery pack.
