Višňové Tunnel

The Višňové Tunnel is a planned highway tunnel in northern Slovakia, on D1 highway at Višňové(western portal) - Dubná Skala(eastern portal) section. It will be 7,460 m long, two-tube tunnel which will replace congested national road 18 between the cities of Žilina and Martin.

Currently there's only an exploration gallery on the axle of southern tube, which was driven from October 1998 to August 2002. The construction is planned to begin in 2007 and opening in 2012.
