A brief description of the historical context would help. A reference to the history of Colombia is definitely not enough here, nor are the links to the Conservatives. Which parts are real, which parts are fictional?

Article is not balanced. There is too much attention on the characters (which does not mean that this information should be discarded, but rather that the rest of the article should be expanded).

Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West [98] High August 3, 2006 B I have always assumed that the Judge does murder the kid at the end of the novel. This is consistent with McCarthy's earlier and later work, especially No Country for Old Men, in which the antagonist Chigurh kills the protagonist, Moss, as well as his wife. The Judge and Chigurh are so similar they may as well be the same person. I also can't imagine what else would elicit the reaction of the men who visit the outhouse.

Also, I don't necessarily agree with the Judge's pedophilia as evidence that the kid is not murdered (although the Judge most likely has killed the girl who performed with the bear, because she has gone missing). At this point in the story, the kid is over 40 years old. He is no longer a kid. (edit comment)

--This appears to be lifted from a critic (Davies presumably), without being recognizable as a characteristic of TtL. I don't see how this is at all helpful in any "encyclopedia" sense. If we're doing lit crit here, then I could certainly unload my notions about the book -- but we're not supposed to be doing criticism, are we?

Similarly, the notion that the book has an "omniscient narrator" is inadequate, as if Woolf were Dickens. The narrator's perspective travels from one character to another, so that we're given a look into their thoughts without moving into first person or direct transcription.
