Connexin [32] Mid November 12, 2006 Start I assume that "mid-importance" is about right. I have a couple comments though as well as some suggestions as to where this article should go.

Firstly, I feel that wikipedians would benifit from a PDB derived image of a connexin (maybe connexin 43), as well as some information about where it is found on the genome, its mass, etc.

Also, lets try to find most of the known functions of the various connexin molecules and add function not yet known. to those that are unknown at the time (Careful of OR though :)

All for now I guess -- JE.at.UWOU|T 23:16, 15 November 2006 (UTC) (edit comment)

Dendritic cell [41] Mid January 12, 2007 Start It is not true that the term Dendritic cell was coined by Ralph Steinmen and Zanvil Cohn. It was coined by Becker SW in 1927(I am not sure if S is Stanley or not). Dr. Steinman discovered the Dendritic cells in the peripheral lymphoid organs of mice. That is to Dr. Steinman's credit.

Dendritic cell is an antigen presenting cell and belongs in that classification. (edit comment)

Dopamine reuptake inhibitor [43] Mid February 20, 2007 Start Changed rating to "mid" for consistency within MCB project. This article needs an explanation of the pharmaceutical/biological effect of these inhibitors in simple terms; it's very technical right now. - tameeria 20:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC) (edit comment)

Fluorescent in situ hybridization [53] Mid November 1, 2006 Start Good content/explanation wise, but in my opinion the article is lacking:

References (preferably in-line) and the phrase "First, a probe is constructed" needs to be expanded and much more detail included (i.e. what is a probe? A short little description, like: made from, how big, etc.. should suffice) Also, I have added a diagram that I came across that seemed to be particularly helpful. (edit comment)

Focal adhesion [54] Mid February 19, 2007 Start I would chose another picture, the one chosen is for a graduate textbook and not for an encyclopedia imho. Look at the discussion site for the picture I suggest (the one from the german wiki). --hroest 18:57, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Acrocentric chromosome [330] Mid March 6, 2007 Stub The article states that "all chromosomes in the mouse genome are acrocentric" and "All mice chromosomes are telocentric". I do not know which is true, but I believe that acrocentric and telocentric are mutually exclusive. I could be wrong, and I would be happy to be corrected (in which case someone who knows better should make it clear in the article) - I am not sure of the exact definition of acrocentric, and it is possible that a telocentric chromosome is considered to be a specical case of "acrocentrism".

Jstanley 16:37, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

_____

It would appear that telocentric is a variation of acrocentric by terms of definition, but in reality is a different scenario, in that the short arm of the chromosome as mentioned in the acrocentric definition is essentially not present in a telocentric chromosome. So... yes, the article does contradict itself.

acrocentric chromosome - a chromosome with the centromere near one end so that one chromosomal arm is short and one is long

as opposed to

telocentric - Chromosome whose centromere appears to be at the very tip of the chromosome (Ratio of long arm to short arm is 1:0).
