Raymond Gosling [8] August 19, 2006 B re "Quality scale" - I think it is probably at least Class B - his role in the discovery of DNA is well set out in this biography, although "Only" being a PhD student at the time means his name is not well represented in the DNA article, although well covered in the article of his mentor Rosalind Franklin. I think though his work in developing ultrasonic angiology could easily be expanded (the topic itself in wikipedia is poorly covered) unfortunately development in the field predated the internet and not being an expert/academic in the field, I have limited resources directly available to me.

re Importance scale - I would assess as at least "High" - being the person who actually took the Xray that helped establish the structure of DNA ! Some information could do with being incorporated from the Rosalind Franklin article and a mention at least inserted into DNA discovery. His work subsequently was on a wide range of medical physics and their application to patient assessment and management. In particular led a pioneering team in the development of doppler ultrasound equipment, the establising of physical parameters and their application to clinical care. I rated it B class, but I'm not qualified to rate Importance. We're not really rating that as a project. Definitely needs inline citations though. See WP:CITE plange 03:17, 20 August 2006 (UTC) (edit comment)
Raymond Kurzweil [9] September 13, 2006 B Things to consider
  • References should be placed after the punctuation without any space in-between per WP:FOOT.
  • Consider creating a References / Notes section and using the cite.php format as suggested per WP:FAC - WP:FOOT
  • Add more sources
  • Several one / two sentence structures - look at turning these into paragraphs.

This looks like a good article. I did not look at prose, image fairuse, NPOV, etc but the information looked pretty good. Consider submitting for WP:GA when you get things cleaned up. Morphh 21:18, 13 September 2006 (UTC) (edit comment)

I particarly liked the indervidall pages about each of the members and the previos members.I was amazed to see how many members their have bheen over the years.Overall I think that this is a very good site with just a couple of minor set backs.

Richard JF Day [62] March 24, 2007 B I rated this a "B" because it is useful for readers who are interested in an overall, sort-of, biography of Richard Day. But at the same time I'd like to see some of the main points from his overall theory posted here. In particular, regarding his definition of the "newest" social movements, as well as his genealogical method for understanding the rootedness of "hegemony" in Marxist discourse. Rick Perry [90] March 6, 2007 B Good day to you sir!

Greetings from Norway! Let me give you an update on human rights: You are known in Europe for your executions of all the shit of people you will not have around you. I would feel a thrill executing all these asswholes. Most of them are guilty. But if not, it is fun to know that he or she die anyway. Because he or she is people we don’t want to have around us. Red Cross and Amnesty International should go to sleep. KILL! That is the slogan! In a national broadcast tv-program this evening we met a man who was sitting 17 years, 8 months and one day waiting for death in his cell in a US prison. He is now a free man. The man who committed the crime confessed. Stop! Let us be real for 2 minutes. Let me speak to you as doctor and professional specialist in internal medicine. In my part of the world, and in my country Norway, we try all the time to get rid of attitudes from you and your department. We don't sentence you to death for your manslaughter. We think in another direction: Feel welcome! Take part in a democratic prosess. We would give you a possibility to love life. You are welcome to Norway. The big difference is: We give people an opportunity, even if they have killed 9 people – you inject curare, sedatives and barbiturates. A man or a woman dies fast, within 3-4 minutes. God will have mercy with your sole, even though you do not set your foot down. Did you se the reaction from the Hamish-community? Forgiveness. The first thing they were occupied with was: “Let the family of the manslayer come and feel the pain with us.” That is much like the moral standard here in Scandinavia. We see people, we don’t judge them on a hard background or a step in wrong direction. We love people who do terrible things too. We will survive on this planet without hate and discrimination, and we will need each other in the future. USA is becoming a decadent middle aged fortress. Do you want the whole world to hate you and your nation? You sure do a good job in that direction. Are you sure that every man ore woman are guilty in a crime they are accused for? In Norway a blind man, who was a prisoner in 18 years was FREE in Supreme court in Norway 3 weeks ago. Two young girls raped and killed. Wrong man was convicted. In USA he would have been executed. Theme: In Texas you often kill people without enough evidence. And even if the evidence is good – you still take life. And you are proud of it. Can you see that the western world slowly turns it’s back on you and your socalled “free” country? We see documentaries in Norway on tv from USA. The impression is that Texas and your country make enemies all around the globe. Here is an example: Guantanamo. Realities are making a whole world hating you. We know what is going on there. How many lives, how many families are you prepared to destroy for your “freedom” ideals? And worse: How can you use God and religion to argument for execution of people that are as valuable as you are?. Islamists are your enemy number one. I am a Lutheran Christian, and more afraid of you than afraid of the muslims. And this is the common impression and attitude among people from Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark - Scandinavia. Sad, but true. A person who has committed serious crime needs care, not lethal injections in his arms. Take a look back at your condemnably history: You and your country were inhuman in Vietnam, Korea and many other places. Now Irac, Afghanistan and other regions where you force your so called “freedom ideals” on other people. 0911. With all respect: Can you see that children in Asia die from illness that is easy and cheap to cure? Do you support the UN? And you cry for 2000 people year after hear after year. The Norwegian government is terrified by observing your way to handle crisis on a global basis. Now you will start in Iran and North-Korea. Can’t you see that the whole world is afraid of you? And at the same time laughing at you? Even here in Denmark, Sweden and Norway we have lost most of our confidence . You are making enemies among people that believed in you. USA is becoming a ghost that has a seat in the security counsel in the UN. Where will this end? Who is going to feed the american population when you, USA, is impotent and disabled?’ Continue executing people like they do in China. There they have busses driving around making their job! That is much easier, from a doctor point of view. To stop a heart is easy. I am a medical doctor, I know that every one of us is a potential killer. Genetics, milieu, life situation, constitution, many factories make initially little children to law-brakers when they grow up. Even into homicides. When the accident has occurred the reaction from society must be fair, and the lawbreaker must have a chanse to rehabilitate. In my part of the world, and in Scandinavia, we don’t tolerate death penalties. Its hard to work as a doctor fighting for peoples life - and at the same time know that my moral standard is broken again and again in countries like yours. You will not respect the fact that it is not up to people to take human lives. Hamish. They showed a whole world that life is about forgiving, not revenge. NOT REVENGE. I am sorry, I wrote letters to more than 50 judges in Texas, all of them with blood on their hands: They will not listen. I called some of them on the telephone. I recorded the conversations, and this will be used in a documentary on national tv here in Norway later this fall. My country is ashamed by you. Sweden, Denmark, most of Europa is ashamed. Texas is the worst state of all American states when it comes to human rights. Germany and France are agreeing in his matter. Spain, Portugal and the east-European countries agree. This is not easy. You are corrupt in your advertisement. And in your information. I could use pages to argument for that. It is bad for you to read, but I have read a lot, and your system and attitude is false. Here is the first place you don’t take a human stand: The western democratic world, and the democratic world in general, find death punishment grotesque and inhuman. It’s hard to come in contact with you, and I understand. But don’t forget, we follow you closely. There are movements. In Norway we are a group of students and advisers, with supervision of a juridical Professor at the UNI Oslo University following closely the practice concerning law and justice in Texas. I am a MD medical from Norway Oslo University. I see every "so called legal injection" you execute over there. You are manslayers, a part of it, the system.

In Norway we have had many new cases taken up again recently in the Supreme court: Recently a person sitting 18 years in prison. Judicial murder. Now he is clean, the system failed. He was innocent. He was not the manslayer of two young girls. Judicial murder. God be with him and his family. In Texas he would never been alive. And God be with you in your work. God loves you!

We will follow your practice. Don’t forget that we are involved in what you are doing to human rights, this is followed by us and many European countries. Amnesty International. Human Watch and WWE, KPL and Rit-32 Copy of this letter is sent to the legal USA system, Norsk Høyesterett and Riksadvokaten I Norge (National supreme court.)

Medical doctor Ola Flagestad Haaland. Freelance journalist. Bellevue 2665 LESJA NORWAY

Ps: Some from Texas sent me a worm and destroyed many documents for me. I have a EDB consultant who helped me with that. Don’t be corrupt in this serious matter. (edit comment)

Its because so many people of all ages like having Robbie in their life. I could go on but why bother I don't really care what others think. Robert Stanfield [164] March 18, 2007 B == B-Class Assessment ==

I rated this article a B-Class article because it is a good beginning with regards to information about Stanfield. What is needed to improve this article to at least a GA-Class article would be more information about his ascension to the Nova Scotia party's leadership.

As well, he was one of Nova Scotia's most successful premiers, though there isn't much information about that. Furthermore, the 1967 Federal Conservative leadership race is considered one of the classic races in post-WWII Canada, since it was one of the first, if not the first, leadership conventions to be well documented on live TV and in a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation documentary from that time called Hail and Farewell (the fall of John Diefenbaker)(1967). A very interesting man who deserves a more expanded article.Abebenjoe 03:54, 19 March 2007 (UTC) (edit comment)

In some areas there are one-sentence paragraphs, which should be merged into another paragraph. Plus the records and trivia section is quite large, I would make a new article for the records, and anything that isn't actualyl a record in that section I would also like to see merged into the article.--Wizardman (edit comment)

Roy Shivers [243] March 4, 2007 B This article has retracted key quotes from Shivers, and doesn't detail what lead to his being fired, the Henry Burris situation properly, etc etc.

The only alleged quote from Shivers that was retracted was the alleged quote from the metronews website where the alleged quote has Shivers saying he is the best GM in CFL history. This quote was in a Marty York article, a proven liar and rumor mongerer. You should know better. Any time Roy ever says anything remotely controversial, it is quoted in various media outlets from coast to coast. Yet somehow the only source of a quote where Shivers allegedly proclaims himself "greatest GM in the history of the CFL" is Marty York. Unless you can provide an alternate source with that quote, the authenticity of the quote as it exists on the metro news website is more than questionable. Secondly, your version of the Henry Burris situation is what wasn't proper. I simply put in the correct account of what happened. -Roughriderfan.

Further edits. I find it interesting that a citation is needed to show that the Riders eliminated their 3 million dollar debt while you would post that many players chafed under Roy's scrutiny. There is no way you could possibly substanciate that. I didn't even bother with a "citation needed" remark. There is no citation in existance for that. The Riders' record under Shivers of signing key players to contract extensions speaks for itself. The successes far outnumber the failures. This indicates a good relationship between Roy and his players. Also, I edited out the part about saying the Riders had to resort to the crossover rule in 2 of their 4 playoff appearances. That goes directly to neutrality. In other words, you are clearly not being neutral. The crossover rule is just as valid a way of making the playoffs as finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd is. This is a biographical piece. Not a playground for you to push your bias. It doesn't matter that you think the crossover is a bad way to make the playoffs. There are no asterixes next to teams that make the playoffs via the crossover rule. Fact: the Riders have made the playoffs the last 4 years. -Roughriderfan.

[edit] Cite Your Sources, Roughriderfan

I cite ALL my sources in the changes and every one of them is important in determing the general managership of Roy Shivers: why the Board of Directors fired Shivers, the status of free agents (13 unsigned, 30 in option year in 2007), the fact we are presently overbudget for next years salary cap, the crossover playoff rule and how its a recent introduction into the CFL(this is important because you compared our previous playoff drought to us making the playoffs the last four seasons; this is correct but your bias allows you to omit the change in playoff format. I find this important as we would have MISSED the playoffs two of those four years if there were no crossover). You say Shivers' successes outnumber his failures regarding player resignings yet you fail to address this issue of 13 impending free-agents unsigned for next year, as well as the 30 going into their option years. No action is taking place on these yet you casually pass over this fact that I SOURCE. Also, your previous mentioning of Shivers wiping out our team debt? Yes we were in the hole and I left that in, but you imply Shivers financial acumen was responsible for the wiping off of this debt? Funny how you omit the two most important factors; the revenue generated from our hosting the Grey Cup, and the forgiven loan by the Sask. Provincial government. Why no mention of these? I mention them and source them. You have yet to cite your sources. Please do. Cite them and those citations will be removed.

User:DerekDD 21:21, 24 August 2006

Almost every source you "cite" leads to a blank page! My point about contract extensions is SOURCED, about the 13 impending free agents and 30 players in their option years not being signed yet for 2007. If you take that key point out, a point of contention between Shivers and the Rider organization (which is SOURCED), it will be article vandalism.

Compare this to your sourcing of the contracts being signed:

[244][245][246][247][248][249][250][251][252][253][254][255]

All the above lead to BLANK PAGES with no information. Source that please and I will leave your point about him being respected by players leading to contract extensions. And quit removing things I can back up with actual sources, not blank pages. If you have other reasons why you think Shivers was fired, source them and add to the article. Don't subtract things you don't like that are an actual reality and can be backed up with sources.

[edit] Player Status Going in to 2007 Irrelevant

The typical contract length in the CFL is a 1 year and an option contract, which means in any given year most teams will have many players in the option year of their contract. Just because you can cite that 30 players are in their option year next year does not make that fact relevant. Unless you can demonstrate that that is way out of the ordinary for a CFL team, I do not see the relevance. The option year only allows players the opportunity to check out the NFL. 5 years ago when these players were much younger and with more players trying the NFL on even the slightest chance, the Riders having 30 players going in to their option year would worry me. Given the average age of the players on this team and the trend of players NOT signing in the NFL unless they get a respectable signing bonus, I'm not sure how relevant it is that we have 30 players going in to their option year. You contradict all that by pointing out the Riders need to cut salary to get under $3.8 million. Every team not named the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is going to need to cut salary to get under $3.8 million. If the Riders need to cut salary, why all this fuss about the number of free agents next year? This is a time of transition. All throughout the league, veterans will either be taking pay cuts or they will be released. There will be a huge free agency pool, and it will be a buyer's market, and these free agent veterans will have to either sign for less or retire. Besides, you did not put the part about free agent players and option year players in the section regarding the firing of Roy. Put that stuff in that section. And do not lecture me about removing things I don't like. Your attempt at minimalizing Nealon Greene's importance in the team reaching the playoffs in 2002 screams of bias. Check the stats: the Riders' defence in 2002 was virtually identical in production as the defence was in 2001. To suggest that the differance between being an uncompetitive non-playoff team in 2001 and being a competitive playoff team in 2002 was down to a defence that really didn't improve or change from 2001 to 2002 is bias, plain and simple. I suggest you go back and read the first version of this article before I showed up to inject some perspective and neutraility and then reconsider whether or not you should be lecturing people about their neutrality.

[edit] Edits by DerekDD trying to create a certain perception rather than sticking to facts

DerekDD, it is obvious you don't like Roy Shivers. That doesn't matter, though. Your edits are biased and are trying to push an opinion. This is supposed to be a biographical piece. For example, you use Henry Burris as a tool to create this negative perception. You remove all commentary from me offering a balanced perspective of the situation. Then you start talking about what the fans think. First of all, you cannot possibly quantify what the fans think. You say that many blamed coaching and others blamed Roy. You know, there ARE a lot of fans that don't look to put blame on anybody. Sometimes things happen that are outside of your control. Henry taking the bigger better deal in Calgary is one of those things, and that had a direct impace on the Riders' 2005 season. In any case, you CANNOT QUANTIFY YOUR STATEMENTS. No scientific poll has been done to find out where the Rider fan base stands, so stop with this "many fans think this" and "many fans think that" stuff. Calgary's speed of improvement is also irrelevant. This is a biographical piece on Roy Shivers. Calgary's record is not relevant. The Trevis Smith situation is also irrelevant in the context you used. The decision to do nothing about Smith until charges were laid was not Roy's decision alone. The entire upper hierarchy of the team was involved. It was a collaberative decision that was made after the team talked to the league and also talked to lawyers.

[edit] Source Your Additions Properly For the Last Time and Don't Let Your Bias Subtract Info THAT IS SOURCED That You Don't Like, Roughriderfan

Mine is the balanced piece. Almost all your "sources" either lead to BLANK PAGES, or you complain that "the papers don't archive after 30 days," or worse yet, "you had a conversation with Roy Shivers or Danny Barrett." Thats great that you talk to them, but its not a credible source, RF. Whining about a lack of archiving from the Leader-Post doesn't cut it either. I have warned you about your lack of sourcing 3 times now. Have you even attempted to go to the links you posted about "Shivers being respected by his players so they are re-signing with the Riders"? They lead to pages WITH NO INFORMATION. Not only that, but when I quote, AGAIN FROM ACTUAL SOURCES, not supposed "conversations" you had with Danny Barret or Roy Shivers (which you actually admit to as being your sources and cannot be substantiated), about the number of free agents NOT signed for next year, you remove it. The board had a big problem with this; quotes abound in many papers and I use them. You remove everything that isn't fitting into your world view about Shivers. Its blatantly obvious. Not only that, but you'd better cool your rhethoric. What you say about York is slanderous and will get you banned on Wikipedia, calling him a "known liar." Prove it.

Your view on Shivers being responsible for eliminating the crushing Rider debt is silly. The two main factors in this where when we hosted the Grey Cup and the Provincial governments forgiveness of the Rider debt. I sourced that. You didn't. You merely said we were in debt and Shivers got us out of debt. If I would have left that nonsense as it were, someone reading the article after you left it would conclude it was Shivers' doing. I quote the fact that the Riders will be way over the salary cap for next year (more than almost every other team as we are in the top 3 for team salaries), you simply REMOVE THAT SOURCED INFORMATION due to your bias. You don't view that as important? The media covering the Riders sure do. Its in all the papers. I quote them. I give credit to Shivers for taking us past the horrible level we were at before, but its not enough for you when I put balance to the situation. Get a clue; his over-all record was below .500........that is mediocre by any sports organization's standards and that is a major reason why he was fired as the team stagnated and couldn't move past a certain level. This was quoted and sourced once again. Ever hear of Jim Hopson, Shivers' boss? Those exact words came out of his mouth. You pretend that the Rider brass or Rider fans don't compare their own situation in waiting for a consistent winner from Shivers to other teams that vault past us within 2 years? Give me a break. Those words are in the papers. Hopson even used the phrase, "we've stagnated." I include that into the framework of why Shivers was fired, but you don't like it, so you remove it because it doesn't fit into your world view. Truth be damned. It doesn't matter that Hopson is the President and CEO of the Riders to you. If its something you don't like, it goes. Haven't you heard about the necessity to acquire a home playoff game (lots of extra revenue) and that Shivers failed to deliver this in 6.5 years? Its right there in the papers. Hopson set that as a goal.

Everything you have made points on, like say Nealon Greene helping the team to the playoffs versus the defense that year, that gets corrected. Good job on that. Thats what you are supposed to do. You backed up what you say with facts on that point. I actually learned from that fact about Greene and what he did that year. Where you go wrong and are KNOWINGLY BIASED is for instance, the Trevis Smith and Kenton Keith incidents. You are gallingly biased especially when it comes to Trevis Smith. This was a hugely embarrassing moment for in Riders' history under Shivers tenure as GM. You realize how many editorials were written on this so don't act as if you don't know. If you READ CAREFULLY, I take a neutral position on this key point. Yet you still remove it because, depending how you look at it, it may reflect badly somewhat on Shivers. The truth is, you don't want even want this incident that made NATIONAL HEADLINES acknowleged due to your own bias. Like it or not, it stays in as it was a major happening in Riderland while Shivers was general manager. And its sourced. So don't talk to me about bias. When you make a reasonable and sourced point, it stays in.

Sarah Trimmer [348] February 21, 2007 B As the primary editor of this page I feel it needs the following at this point:
  • an expansion of the "Literary career" section with more analysis of Trimmer's writings
  • a thorough revision of the writing and a copyedit
  • possible addtion of images

  • Article rated as B-Class, as there is not much content other than a basic biography. Grammar & references need no work, just extra background on the subject is needed.

[edit] Strengths

[edit] Weaknesses

Sathya Sai Baba [354] November 3, 2006 B There is no question that in terms of the amount of information and number of references that this article is at the very least a B-class article. The unfortunate downside is that, given the regular revisions to the article which seem to be taking place, that it might encounter difficulties on that basis. Personally, if and when the edit wars ever end, I will be more than happy to review it and very likely propose it for good-article status. Until the edit wars cease, though, I regret to say that there probably isn't much that can be done to promote it, as the content might change substantially between the time the article is nominated and the time it is reviewed. I have reservations about this being a B-class article. It has a lot of detail but also a lot of POV-pushing and it paints a picture that seems to me to be just plain inaccurate in the real world. And while there are many references they're almost entirely of works admiring SSB, mentioning little or none of the large amount of critical material available. The following seems like a very good bibliography of SSB-related material: bdsteel.tripod.com/More/sbresearchbib1.htm
Maybe some of the works mentioned in it can be used to improve the article.

Amazing, now 67.117.130.181 is arguing for the inclusion of original research by Steel, a source that deemed to be non-reputable in mediation with BostonMA. 67.117.130.181, SSB is a very popular personality. The controversial material about him is many years old and there simply isn't any new controversial material to update the article with. Also, please refrain from posting these critical links on pages associated with Sathya Sai Baba. There is an ArbCom ruling that has prohibited this. Please read it for yourself: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Sathya Sai Baba SSS108 talk-email 00:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not proposing to incorporate the bibliography into the article. I'm saying it has citations for various other publications that look like they should be usable in the article and are likely to be worth tracking down. I don't see it as a critical link. It is a bibliography and has citations to all kinds of material both pro and anti. Also, it is well sourced: every entry in it has a citation, which is the point of a bibliography. I will ask Thatcher131 for clarification about the arb ruling since I think you may have both misinterpreted it (at least I hope you have). 67.117.130.181 13:06, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello. Although I know very little about the subject and can't be of much help with the article, I rated this Start in WikiProject Biography as well as listed it for a second opinion. Prose needs to be sourced and perhaps in some places could be more rigorous and read a little less like a fan site. Following the project steps might help the article reach B class. Best wishes. -Susanlesch 16:48, 6 January 2007 (UTC). minor edits at :50
