[edit] Attendance
The school is the largest juniour high in Alberta, with, at points in time, over 900 students. In the 2006-2007 school year VB had over 900 students, but the amount was cut down due to applicants' giving false addresses to be in district boundaries, automatically being accepted into the school. Currently, there are around 830 students attending Vernon Barford.
[edit] Academics
Vernon Barford is a district site for Academic challenge students. As a result, many awards have been won by VB students. This includes math contests (Gauss, Atlantic-Pacific, CNML, Pascal, AMC 8), science club (Virtual Science Fair, Cardboard boat races, Science Olympics), and musical performances by Concert Bands grade 7,8,9, and Jazz/Stage Bands X and Y.
[edit] Extra Curricular
Vernon Barford School prides itself in being balanced with academics and athletics. Their school teams are dubbed the "Blues", the symbol being similar to that of the NHL hockey team St. Louis Blues.
