Vermeer Company
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vermeer Manufacturing Company was created in 1948 by Gary Vermeer. Vermeer is based in Pella, Iowa and is a manufacturer of agricultural, environmental, and industrial equipment. Vermeer was the first to create a large round hay baler. This made baling hay much easier and faster since the bales were handled only by machinery and less stops were required for finishing a bale due to the larger, heavier bales.
Now more than 5 decades later, Vermeer has developed many firsts; including the world's first tree spade and stump cutter.
Since its inception, Vermeer has grown from a 1 person Iowa operation, to an international organization that manufactures agricultural, construction, environmental and industrial equipment. In 1991 Vermeer launched its NAVIGATOR horizontal directional drilling machine which has been instrumental in installing fiber optics for the world's internet.
With 150 dealerships worldwide, Vermeer is a success story in the global construction machinery industry.
