Venus Versus Virus (ヴィーナス ヴァーサス ヴァイアラス Vīnasu Vāsasu Vaiarasu?)[1] is a Japanese manga series created by Atsushi Suzumi which was first serialized in the Japanese manga magazine Dengeki Comic Gao!, published by MediaWorks, starting on June 27, 2005. Later, a drama CD was created based on the manga series. The series has since been adapted into an anime that started airing in Japan on January 11, 2007 on BS-i.

The manga has been licensed for English language distribution by North American based company Seven Seas Entertainment. The first volume is set to be released in June 2007.[2]

Venus Versus Virus revolves around the life of a young girl named Sumire Takahana who has had the power to see ghosts since she was a small child, though no one believes her. One night while running to her dorm building to make curfew, a broach flies out of no where and she pricks her finger on it and sees a demon. Suddenly, another girl clad in gothic lolita clothing arrives bearing a huge gun and kills the demon. Once the ordeal is over with, the girl gives Sumire a flier for a local clothing store, Venus Vanguard. When Sumire visits the store, the girl, whose name is Lucia Nabashi, explains to her that because she pricked her finger on the broach, Sumire now has the power to see demons as well as ghosts. Additionally, Lucia now wants Sumire to help her rid the world of these demons called Virus that threaten to consume all of humanity.

Lucia Nabashi (名橋 ルチア Nabashi Ruchia)?, (Seiyū - Ayahi Takagaki)
Lucia is a strong, young girl who fight's Viruses alongside the other members of the Venus Vanguard, who are sworn to fight and kill all Viruses. Her left eye holds a mysterious power to see demons, though is almost always covered with an eyepatch. Use of this power is taxing and wears her out.
Sumire Takahana (鷹花 スミレ Takahana Sumire)?, (Seiyū - Minori Chihara)
Sumire is a young high school girl and a member of the Venus Vanguard, despite being terribly scared of Viruses. While initially she cannot be of much help to Lucia, whenever her body reacts to the special chemical used to defeat Viruses, she transforms into a "Berserker Mode", or a living Anti-Virus. With this strange ability, she becomes stronger and violent, and is capable of defeating Viruses with her bare hands. When under the influence of this power, she is not easily stopped and will even turn on her friends.

The Venus Versus Virus manga was first serialized on June 27, 2005 in the magazine Dengeki Comic Gao! published by MediaWorks. So far, four volumes have been released in Japan, the last of which coming out on January 27, 2007. The manga has since been licensed in America by Seven Seas Entertainment with the first volume scheduled to be released in June 2007.

The Venus Versus Virus anime is being produced by the animation studio Studio Hibari and began airing in Japan on January 11, 2007 on the BS-i network.

Guy, a new foe stronger than Luca appears and Lucia tries to stop him, but gets severly injured in the process. Later, Lucia tries again, but is losing until Sumire comes to help. Lucia ends up using the power of her left eye to fight off Guy for the time being.

As Lucia recovers from her fight with Guy, Nahashi reminisces about the past. The story begins eighteen years ago when Nahashi was with Lucia's parents before she was born. They had been students under a master sorcerer, and Lucia's mother Lilith was the key to their ultimate goal of finding the new world.
