Ventrapragada

Ventrapragada is a famous village in Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh, India. Ventrapragada is situated 30KM from Vijayawada and 9KM from Gudivada.

The neighbouring villages are Kalavapamula, Mudunuru, Vanapamula, Cheruvukommu and Nandamuru.

The famous ancient temple of Sri Nameswara Swamy(Lord Siva) is here. No where else in the world Lord Siva is called with this name or has a temple with this name. The sivalingam in this temple has Namam(which is uncommon for siva) and hence the name. Its also told that linga is so long ,deep rooted that the end was not found but there is a well in the temple ,its deepth is a measure of how far the lingam was seen when it was discovered for the first time,by the people who saw it. There is a strong belief that has been through generations that ,couples or ladies who pray for children,get their wish fullfilled and give the same name to their new borns,which are like,Nameswara rao,Nameshwari,Namesh etc. There is a strong belief that those who want to have children or get married or wish for anything ,do 108 pradakshinas around the temple in a periods of 1-3 months or 108 days. There is a veerabhadra swamy ,with his wife ,idols in this temple,who is believed to be guardian of the village.

Shivaratri ,Srirama navami,Dussera ,Sankranthi festivals make the temple crowded with pilgrims.

sankranthi is well celebrated as the harvest season comes,the village is decorated with rangolis as deep rooted culture . This village also has an ancient famous temple of Shirdi Sai Baba.

There is no other village or place in India that exists with this name.

The village has a Bus station and a Old railway station. Villagers here,grow rice ,wheat ,sugarcane, and many vegetable crops. the village has a stream of krishna river water flowing through,which mainly used for agriculture purposes,the stream fertiles thousand acres. In the ancient times the village was popular over the local mandals for organizing art & cultural events. The Gram Panchayath office and Government School and Government Hospital are also added things to the small village.
