Venkatesa Battar

Sri Venkatesa Bhattar was a saint,[citation needed] who lived in Tiruvallur, near Chennai, India. Sri Venkatesa Bhattar was born in a small village called Sitthamalli, near Sirgazhi in Tamil Nadu, India. He spent most parts of his life in Kumbakonam and Tiruvallur. He was an authority in Mantra Shastra and temple procedures, and was an ardent devotee of Devi Meenakshi (a form of Devi Parvathi, the guardian deity of Madurai.
He was instrumental in establishing the Panchamukha Hanuman Ashram at Tiruvallur, near Chennai. He attained Samadhi in 2003.
His Guru was Sri Mantramurthi RangaSwami Battachar of Anandatandavapuram. The Title 'Mantramurthi' was given by the Sage Paramcharya of Kanchipuram.
