Veijo Meri

Veijo Meri (born December 31, 1928) is a Finnish writer. Much of his work focuses on war and its absurdity.

Born in Viipuri (today Vyborg, Russia), Meri graduated secondary school in Hämeenlinna, then studied history and became an independent writer.

His work is diverse and includes novels, short stories, poetry, and essays. In 1971, he published an autobiography entitled Kersantin poika.
