This user account is a bot operated by Veinor (talk).

It is not a sock puppet, but rather an automated or semi-automated account for making repetitive edits that would be extremely tedious to do manually.

VeinorBot is a spam log-parsing bot maintained by User:Veinor that:

  • Takes the logs from #wikipedia-en-spam on the freenode IRC chat and parse them to see how many times a given domain was added. VeinorBot then puts that information on, for example, User:Veinor/Link count/February 25, 2007 for the February 25, 2007 logs.

As of February 22, 2007, log addition is fully automated. The next step is to sit in #wikipedia-en-spam and watch the chat so VeinorBot can update as soon as the day is over

[edit] Internals

VeinorBot is written in Perl using perlwikipedia, and will use POE when I get around to implementing an IRC interface.
