[edit] Brixton Street Wetlands

Thanks for fixing my category and disambig on this new article - I'm still learning some of the finer points! Ishel99 14:25, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] MTB World Championships (cycling)

If you are going to merge the other World Cycling Championship articles, please leave the merged page in the Women's cycle racing category.

Also, have you considered that some of the resulting pages might become very long? The MTB page is fine as that is a fairly recent sport discipline, but the road championships extend back over 50 years for the women, longer for the men. Merging them could create a very long article especially if people start adding prose like course descriptions, race commentary. As they stand right now, they are basically just lists of medalists.

Naming conventions: I'm not sure what the official names are. I chose to use "World Championship of _____ (women)" because then they are all listed together in the alphabetical listing.

[edit] Pobblebonks

Hi, I'm new and I've just edited your talk page (again) to remove a request I made having misunderstood what you'd done. If this is rude it's unintentional - Sorry!Lizby 11:51, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Greetings [Australian: G'day]

Hi, I'm Vcxlor and I saw you against Perth or Western Australia, and I realise that phonetically we are fairly close in sound! Probably a very spurious reason to make contact, but then this is wiki eh? Best Wishes vcxlor 07:24, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Ta for catching my Cairngorms/Cairn Gorm blooper! I see we share some interests: I had never even thought of looking at the Wiki cycling stuff before, even though a regular visitor to www.cyclingnews.com --Mais oui! 22:58, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] re Images on Commons

Thanks for the advice re uploading images to Commons. I will check it out and transfer them over in time. Cheers. --Cactus.man 14:33, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi Vclaw, is there a formal policy regarding duplicate images on Commons and en.Wikipedia - in other words, when I transfer the images to Commons do I leave the en.WP version intact or ask for it to be deleted? Thanks in advance. --Cactus.man 16:00, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, I'll tag them as and when and let the admins clear them out whenever they get round to it. --Cactus.man 18:35, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Railway Stations

Hey - just to drop you a line to thank you for the work you're doing on the Categorys for railway stations. It took a few people a long time to create those artices, and its always good to see someone new coming along to help =)

Many thanks, keep it up =)

And more! It's not easy going through all those pages making the tiniest of changes, so you deserve a thank you for doing so. Here's a thank you from me; keep it up!
I award this Barnstar to Vclaw for their great efforts in categorising UK railway station pages.

[edit] St. Andrew's House

Thanks for adding the photo, I was having trouble finding a freely available one, and you just saved me a trip with the camera :) If you don't mind I would like to straighten and crop it a bit though. Thanks also for fixing my Category: blooper on the Clachan Bridge article. --Cactus.man 11:32, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bellshill

Congrats on moving Bellshill to its proper spot.

There are actually quite a few Scottish place articles that have been unecessarily "disambiguated" from less notable things. The worst case I have come across recently is Denny, Falkirk, which has been "disambiguated" from... absolutely nothing! If you look at the Denny dab page you will see that there is not a single other Wikipedia article called "Denny"! It would drive you nuts. Maybe we ought to start up a wee section at WP:SCOWNB listing all the dabbed Scottish articles, some of which really should not be dabbed?--Mais oui! 11:45, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beltane

heyhey. t'was my first beltane fire festival and a rather enjoyable experience. i agree, the article needs a better history, and definitly needs some pics of the event. happy beltane to you to, and enjoy the picnic this afternoon. do you know leila (who was a steward this year) btw? she's my girlfriend. --MilkMiruku 13:37, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pages listed on Categories for deletion

Discussion on CFD - proposal to merge all subcats of Category:Members of the United Kingdom Parliament from Scottish constituencies up into the main cat. Relevant categories which would be deleted are:

I think that this is a rather important discussion for editors interested in Scotland-related articles, especially Scottish politics and Scottish biographical articles (particularly local history). Please have a read and ponder, and contribute to the debate if you like. Thanks. --Mais oui! 17:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

It would also be relevant in this context to consider the discussions in Category talk:British MPs. I find it regrettable that Mais oui! has engaged in a restructuring of that category without entering into the discussions there. --BrownHairedGirl 17:48, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion/Log/2006_July_23#Category:Members_of_the_United_Kingdom_Parliament_from_Scottish_constituencies is just about to close. I would really appreciate your contribution, because this debate needs some serious input. --Mais oui! 09:48, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cycling icon

I hope you'll forgive the impersonal nature of this note; inasmuch as I've essentially the same message for four editors, I'm copying it to the talk pages of SimonBrooke, Mindfrieze, Guy, and Vclaw. In any event, a discussion was recently undertaken at Portal talk:Cycling as to the image used in Template:Cycling project (which discussion, I should say, seemed to be altogether a good one); acting boldly, and consistent with my idiosyncratic and obsession-driven attempt properly to refactor or format the sundry Portal talk pages, I moved the discussion to Template talk:Cycling project, where such discussion is more likely to invite participation from others interested in the topic). I mean not at all to be indecorous, and so if one of you should revert, I'd certainly understand, especially inasmuch as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cycling, another page at which such discussion might belong, seems generally moribund. [edit] Hydro schemes

If you are doing some work on pages about hydro schemes then I would suggest having a look at Mike Ross's web pages. He has some excellent photographs that he has taken of hydro schemes and also plans of them. --jmb 16:28, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Scotland

Pre-script: we are currently undergoing peer review, see: Wikipedia:Peer review/Scotland.

I am beginning to think that the Scottish Wikipedians' notice board is not the best vehicle for pushing up the quality of the Scotland article (we ought to try to get it to WP:FA, in order to get into Wikipedia:Version 0.5, or, failing that, Wikipedia:Version 1.0), and the other key Scottish articles. It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that we really ought to start up the long-mooted WikiProject Scotland.

Most of the stuff at the notice board (at least on the bottom half) is actually WikiProject material anyway, and the Talk page is really being used as a WikiProject talk already! The notice board should be just that: for bunging up brief notices and signposts. I am thinking of launching a Wikiproject and correspondingly radically clearing out, and chopping down, the noticeboard (a re-launch if you like). The Scotland Portal concept is fine (but currently mediocre/undynamic content), but in stasis: it needs a good kick up the jacksie.

For comparison, have a look at:

And, if you are at a loose end, have a look at:

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Scotland

Following a successful period of consultation WikiProject Scotland has now been launched. As a participant in the Scottish Wikipedians' notice board I wonder if you may be interested in this new endeavour too? If so, please sign-up here. The WikiProject will be replacing some of the functions of the notice board, especially those in the lower half.

While I am here, please also have a look at the new Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Scotland and give it a "Watch". It was started up by User:Visviva a few days ago, after long being mooted at the notice board, and effectively replaces all the AfD listings at the notice board. Being a transclusion of all the on-going discussions it is a much more useful tool.

Even if you do not want to spend too much time on the WikiProject, please give it a "Watch" and feel free to contribute to Talk page discussions: the more contributors the merrier.

All the best. --Mais oui! 11:18, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Allegations of sock puppetry on the Center for Science in the Public Interest page

Allegations of sock puppetry have been made against some of the accounts that have edited the Center for Science in the Public Interest page. I have instigated the wiki process for handling such allegations. See Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/David Justin. As someone who has contributed to the CSPI page, please add your views to the Comments section. You have up to 10 days to make comments on the allegation. [edit] Thanks

Cheers for expanding that. I knew there would be debate, and was just about to post a request on the notice board. You saved me the trouble! Regards, Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 20:28, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
