Vaulderie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vaulderie is one of the Auctoritas Ritae used by the fictional vampire sect known as the Sabbat in White Wolf Game Studio's Vampire: The Masquerade books.

The Vaulderie itself is a form of Blood Bonding. A chalice is taken out and passed among the vampires in a Pack. Each vampire participating puts some of their blood into the chalice before passing it on. Then each vampire drinks from the chalice, usually the amount of blood they put into the chalice but not always, bonding them to all the other participants in the Vaulderie. This bond creates a strong sense of loyalty to the other vampires and makes it difficult for the vampire to act against the other vampires with whom he or she shared the Vaulderie.

The Vaulderie is integral to the Sabbat as it helps keep the Pack from infighting among itself.

The Vaulderie is also practiced as a celebration and affirmation of one's loyalty to the pack and the Sabbat.
