Vatted Malt is a whisky which is blended from a number of different single malts from different distilleries. Unlike a blended whisky, vatted malts do not contain any grain whisky.

The term "vatting" is used to describe the blending process - and does not automatically equate to a vatted malt.

Vatted malts or pure malts are to be reclassified as Blended malts as part of a process to standardise Scotch whisky descriptors set out by The Scotch Whisky Association which represents the majority of Scotch whisky distillers in the Industry.

One of the most popular vatted malts is Johnnie Walker Green Label (labelled a pure malt by the company).
