Vasse, Western Australia

Vasse (33° 41' S. 115° 17' E.) is a town in the south-west of Western Australia, 240 kilometres south west of Perth in the Shire of Busselton. The town is named after the Vasse River and Vasse Estuary, both of which are named after a French seaman, Thomas Timothee Vasse who disappeared in the area in June 1801. The population of Vasse in around 75 (2001 estimate) but is expected to increase to around 5,000 on the completion of the Vasse Newtown Development by around 2012. [1]
