Vash (Star Trek)

Vash is a character in the fictional Star Trek universe who appeared in episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine [1]. Vash was played by actress Jennifer Hetrick.
Her first appearance was in the Next Generation episode "Captain's Holiday", where she was introduced as an outlaw and tomb raider who struck up a romance with Captain Jean-Luc Picard. She would return in the episode "Qpid", in which she took part in Q's Robin Hood fantasy as Princess Marian. At the end of the episode, she left with Q to explore the universe, but eventually wound up abandoned in the Gamma Quadrant, where she was picked up by a Runabout from the station Deep Space Nine in the episode "Q-Less", where she attempted to auction off many of the rarities she discovered in the Gamma Quadrant. This led to near-calamity, as one of the items turned out to be an unstable life form. After this incident, she left DS9 to pursue riches elsewhere.
In Greg Cox's story "The Worst Of Both Worlds" (part of the trade paperback collection, Glass Empires), a Mirror Universe counterpart of Vash appears. She is a member of the human resistance forces attempting to overthrow the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. She is eventually captured and assimilated by the Borg.
While it seemed, at times, that she would reform her roguish ways and return to the legitimate study of archaeology, she continually gravitated toward the dark side of the law. It can be argued that she is one of the most atypical human characters from The Next Generation, as she was more rebellious and profit-driven than many of the show's characters.
