Vasantrao Arjun Naik

Vasantrao Arjun Naik (born 7 May 1920), popularly known as Bapusaheb Naik is one of the prominent social workers of the Konkan region. He was conferred the Konkan Ratna award, the highest civilian award for Konkani people in 1993. He was felicitated in 1995 at Mumbai by Congressian Barrister Palav.

Vasantrao Arjun Naik has done enormous work in the southern part of Sindhudurg district, especially in Kudal taluka and neighbouring areas. Apart from working for the people of Sindhudurg, he has also seen his dream project, a proposed free school for the children of Nerur, come into reality (Ingetriet Naik High School, affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary Education). He had also lobbied hard for the Konkan Railway.
