Talk:Vasily Dzhugashvili

His legal name may well have been Vasily Dzhugashvili, but he always called himself Stalin. I am inclined to think this article should be moved. Adam 08:15, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

- His legal name was Vasilii Iosifovich Stalin which he refused to change even though "the party" requested him to do so and was such in a recent court case posthumously reversing some of his 1962 convictions
Stalin in general treated his son severely. When Vasily in the letter asked the father to send him money to buy products in buffet and to sew the new form, Stalin wrote a brief resolution on the letter:
- «1. As far as I know, the ration in the parts of Air Forces is quite sufficient. 2. The special form for the son of comrade Stalin in Red Army is not stipulated».
And when Vasily already being the commander of aviation regiment, started to behave unworthy, Stalin issued the order:
- Order of the Commissar of Defense of the USSR
- 26th of May, 1943
- To the commander of the Air Forces of Red Army Marshal of Aircraft comrade NOVIKOV
- I ORDER:
- 1) Take off Immediately from a post of the Commander of aviation regiment Colonel STALIN V.I. and not to give him any command posts till my special order.
- 2) To announce to the former Commander of the regiment Colonel Stalin that Colonel Stalin is being removed from a post of the Commander of the regiment because of drunkenness and revelry, that he spoils and corrupts regiment.
- Inform about execution.
- People’s Commissar of Defense

Stalin once lost his temper with his son Vasily, the crown prince, spoiled, pathetic son who said, who was throwing his weight around. And in fact, in the book, one of the fascinating things we have all his letters. We have all Vasily Stalin`s letters, to his guards, and he was always writing them ordering them to do things. And one of the things he said was he said, I`m Stalin, he said. I`m Vasily Stalin. Stalin said, "No, you`re not." He said, You`re not Stalin. I`m not Stalin. He said, Stalin is Soviet power. Stalin is what`s in the newspapers. Stalin is the image of the Soviet Union. Not even I am Stalin.
- The Russian Supreme Court's Military Collegium acquitted Vasilii Stalin,
the late son of former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, on 30 September on charges of anti-Soviet propaganda and agitation, ITAR-TASS reported. The court also reduced charges of embezzlement and abuse of power. The court's decision was in response to an appeal filed last year by Vasilii Stalin's friends in the army and his relatives, "The Moscow Times" reported on 1 October. The case against Vasilii Stalin was launched just a month after his father's death. According to the prosecutor in the recent case, Stalin's son spent a considerable amount of state money creating hunting resorts, modernizing his state-owned dacha, and hosting extensive private parties. Stalin, who became a general at the age of 26, spent eight years in prison after his conviction. In 1962, he died at the age of 41 from alcoholism. JAC

- The USSR championship of 1948 was a replica of the previous competition. The army team had little changes though those changes were typical enough. Aviation General V.I. Stalin tempted over to his VVS team À. Prokhorov, A. Vinogradov and P. Sherbatenko. Those and other acquisitions made it possible for the flyers to take a more decent 9th position. Later V.I. Stalin also tried to persuade A. Grinin, G. Fedotov and V. Bobrov. Vasily Stalin was in sympathy with Bobrov as a person and highly appreciated him as a sportsman. Though the General got one of the CDKA's leaders only after two years. Vasily Iosifovich failed to have desired result through negotiations with other army players.
