Varun Gandhi (born March 13, 1980) is the only son of the late Sanjay Gandhi and Indian Politician Maneka Gandhi.

Formerly a student of law and economics at the London School of Economics, he then completed his Masters from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

He is currently a member of the BJP National executive and one of the main political campaigners of the party. He is seen by some to be the Youth face of the party and to be a potential leader in the future.

Varun has written widely on issues of National security and external affairs. He has written for the RSS house newspaper the Organiser [1].

He was tipped to contest the prestigious by-election from the Vidisha Parliamentary constituency in the central indian state of Madhya Pradesh, but this was avoided as the BJP top brass felt its state unit would be upset by it. He was just short of age to contest the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, where he was still heavily involved in campaigning, but it is widely believed he will contest the next elections from Uttar Pradesh.

Recent media reports suggested that he would be inducted as BJP General Secretary by the end of the year. It has been said that he enjoys the backing of senior party leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani, but the next generation of leaders feels it is too early.[2]
