Varna Peninsula

Varna Peninsula (Poluostrov Varna \po-lu-'os-trov 'var-na\) is a roughly rectangular ice-covered peninsula forming the NE extremity of Livingston Island, Antarctica. It is bounded by Hero Bay to the NW, by Moon Bay to the SE, and by McFarlane Strait to the NE.

The peninsula is approximately 12 km long in the SW-NE direction and 9 km wide, with a central area occupied by Vidin Heights. The N and E extremities of Varna Peninsula are formed by Williams Point and by Inott Point respectively. The coast is indented by Lister Cove and Dragon Cove to the NE, and by Griffin Cove, Charybdis Cove and Eliseyna Cove to the NW.

Varna is the name of a major city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The midpoint is located at 62°30′55″S, 60°09′45″W (British mapping in 1822 and 1968, Chilean mapping in 1966, Argentine mapping in 1980, and Bulgarian mapping in 2005).
