Vargr

The Vargr are an alien race from the Traveller roleplaying game universe. The name is derived from vargr, Norwegian for werewolf.
Vargr are a race of wolf-like bipeds. They stand around 1.6m tall and weigh about 70Kg. They have keen senses stemming from their canine ancestry.
Vargr have a pack mentality and tend to be organised in small groups. Their political organisations tend to appear unstable and anarchic.
Vargr are unique among the Major Races in that they were genetically enhanced by the ancients from Terran canine stock and did not evolve naturally.
Vargr have a fictional religion (loosely based on Terran Voudoun) known as 'Senghik Otoun', which varies greatly in depiction, but usually involves the possession of the priest or priestess by a charismatic ancestor spirit.
While not a religion, per se, the other major sociopolitical movement followed by a large number of Vargr is the 'Dzeng Ang Ko', or 'Society of Equals' which is depicted as more of a non-religious movement based on ideas of Vargr racial superiority.
