Vandalia is the name of some places in the United States of America:
- Vandalia was also a poetic name for Andalusia since it was ruled by the Vandals.[citation needed]
- In Don Quixote, the bachelor Sansón Carrasco disguises himself as an errant knight paying courtly love to the imaginary Casildea of Vandalia, playing with the contrast between chivalric fantasy and reality.
- The name Vandalia colony had also been applied by the British to a proposed 14th colony which would have encompassed a vast territory west of the Allegheny Mountains including most of present day West Virginia and much of Kentucky. Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was the proposed capital of this colony.[1]
- USS Vandalia has been the name of four ships in the United States Navy.
