Vancouver City Savings Credit Union or Vancity is a member-owned financial institution in Vancouver, British Columbia and the largest credit union in Canada. Founded in 1946, Vancity provides a variety of financial services including banking, borrowing, investments, and insurance. It currently has about 354,000 members and more than 50 branches located across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. It currently has over 2000 employees and an asset of CAD $12.3 billion. [1] The credit union's Chief Executive Officer is Dave Mowat (who will leave VanCity in June 2007 to join ATB Financial [2]) and Chief Operations Officer is Ian Warner.
Vancity owns the Citizens Bank of Canada.
In September, 2006 Vancity launched ChangeEverything.ca, an online community focused on issues of change in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland and Victoria.
