[edit] Story

Players will be playing as a character named Frank Keegan, corporal of the 82nd Airborne Division, and lead soldiers into battle against the Nazi war machine. Vanguard's firefights will take place in a variety of operations set in the European Theatre, such as Operation Husky (Sicily), Operation Neptune (France), Operation Market Garden (Netherlands) and Operation Varsity (Germany). The game includes upgradable weapons and an extremely cinematic story, which is told using documentary footage and voiceovers from in-game characters.

[edit] Features

Vanguard's features are similar to that of Medal of Honor: Airborne. Players will be able to customize their weapons, such as adding a scope to a M1 Garand and a larger ammo drum for a Thompson. Also, at the start of every level, players parachute onto a battlefield, and they can roughly designate where they land. Players who land at certain points in a level will be able to pick up weapons and other bonuses. Depending on this factor, missions can be played out in different ways. Content wise, both versions of the game are the same, except for the fact that the Wii version implements the Wii Remote. Crouching, jumping, making quick turns and reloading can be performed using gestures with the Nunchuck, but they are also assigned to buttons. The Wii-mote is naturally used to aim in the game. Multiplayer has been included, in the form of four-player split-screen option with the Wii version. The announced multiplayer modes are the traditional deathmatch, capture the flag and king of the hill. Vehicles have not been included in the final game, as EA wishes to focus on foot battles.

[edit] Reception

IGN.com gave Medal of Honor for the Wii 7.0 out of 10.0, 'decent' although Gamespot gave the game a 5.5 out of 10 for both the Wii and PS2 titles. Most criticism came to the poor graphics engine, omitted multiplayer, horrible AI and how many of the game elements were already featured in the series or were made better by other WWII shooters. Aaron Thomas, Gamespot reviewer claims "There's really no reason to pick it up on the PlayStation 2, and thanks to a higher price tag for the Wii version, there's very little reason to buy it for the Wii, either"
