Vampire Dawn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vampire Dawn is the first novel by Philip Henry, an Irish writer specialising in horror fiction.
Published in 2004, by Black Death Books, Vampire Dawn is set in/around Coleraine and Portstewart in Northern Ireland. It features three main characters - a pair of married vampires living in the former Arcadia Ballroom, Portrush and an alcoholic vampire hunter.
A number of local businesses are represented in a fictionalised sense but are recognisable. For example, the undertaker supplying coffins to the vampires, 'Hughes' is described as being close enough to the River Bann for a passing car to crash into the river. It is probably based on the real-life 'Hugh Wade and Son', sited near the Bann. A shoe-shop in Portrush bears a resemblance to the local department store 'The White House'.
