Valparai is a panchayat town in Coimbatore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Valparai is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 1193 metres (3914 feet).It is one of the top 10 revenue earning panchayats in India according to the survey. But most of the population consist of labour force, who are poorly paid - the survey result is unbelievable.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Valparai had a population of 94,962. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Valparai has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 64%. In Valparai, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Valparai mainly consist of Tea Gardens and Coffee Estates. Most of the population consist of Labour force engaged in Tea and Coffee estates. Valparai being situated in Anamallai Hills, to reach valparai You have to travel either from Pollachi or from the other side of the Hill from Chalakudi. The climatic condition prevailing is most suitable for cultivation of Tea,Coffee,Cardamom,Cincona trees. It is an underdeveloped tourist spot. If the TamilNadu Govt is keen to develop Valparai as a tourist spot by providing various facilities, it will definitely attract more tourist population than Udhagamandalam, the queen of south. Places one must see: Balaji Temple, Monkey falls, Sholayar Dam, Athirappalli Falls (Punnagai Mannan Falls)Alyar Dam. Grass Hills and so may tea gardens attracts for the beauty of ups and downs for natural lovers and mount trekkers. It has a vast land of Forest area also and Panther, deer,Elephant,Monkey of various types, birds are visible.
