Valley of the Sun (or VOTS) is a local Ultimate not-for-profit based out of Phoenix, Arizona. It was incorporated in 1993 in order to be able to handle the financing of one of the largest annual tournaments in the United States. From there it has grown to running multiple small tournaments throughout the year as well as several leagues. Annual league participation is in excess of 200 people. Ultimate is played year round, including through the brutally hot summers that characterize Phoenix.

New Year's Fest is one of the largest annual Ultimate tournaments in the country. Held every year since 1982, it draws teams from around the country. There are typically over 500 participants and numerous spectators for the two day tournament. It is held the first weekend in February. The local weather (typically sunny and 70 to 80 degrees) characterizes it as one of the few places in the country that Ultimate can be played at that time.
