Released in 2004, shortly after Amar Sin Mentiras, Valió La Pena won "Best Tropical Album of the Year". The album includes most of the songs from the previous album. A few changes were made such as the songs being converted into salsa, the inclusion of Rafael Hernández Marín's song, "Lamento Borincano", and three songs were not put back (Tan Solo Palabras, Nada Personal, and Amar Sin Mentiras). Many critics especially fans of Marc Anthony have favored the salsa songs over the pop songs.
