Valerie is the mother of Ryu and Yua from Breath of Fire II. She has dragon wings, blue hair, and green eyes. At the beginning of the game she has been dead for three years.

Near the end of the game, it is revealed that Valerie never actually died but had transformed into a dragon to protect the village of Gate. After the battle with Habaruku, she reveals herself and then takes her own life so that Ryu can go into Infinity (note*** you can actually choose to have Valerie remain as a dragon, guarding the gates as long as she can. this will net you the "bad/sad" ending, the easiest of the 3 to get). When you make it to the Dragon clan town of Dologany, you are able to control Valerie in a series of flashbacks that show her life from when she first arrived in Gate to when she turned into the Dragon.
