Vaksdal is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway.

The Norse form of the name was probably *Vágsdalr. The first element is then the genitive case of vágr m 'bay', the last element is dalr m 'valley, dale'.

The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1990). It shows three shuttles for weaving (to represent the textile industry of the municipality).
