Vaga River

The Vaga River (Russian: Вага) is a river in the Vologda and Arkhangelsk Oblasts in Russia, the biggest tributary of the Northern Dvina River. The length of the Vaga River is 575 km. The area of its basin is 44,800 sq km. The river freezes up in mid-November and stays under the ice until late April. Main tributaries of the Vaga River are the Kuloy, Ustya, and Vel. Most of the river is navigable during the high-water season. The towns of Velsk and Shenkursk are located on the Vaga River.
