[edit] Thanks for the Valley View article!

Thanks for the great article on Valley View Mall! It's definitely a much-needed addition to Wikipedia, especially when you consider that Tanglewood got its article first... SchuminWeb (Talk) 21:04, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:VA Memorial 2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:VA Memorial 2.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Va 311.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Va 311.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Thanks for your thanks

Thanks for your comment. I'm always glad to lend a hand, and I'm glad you're out there making articles for various Roanoke area features. I visit Roanoke a few times a year, and it's always good to have these things represented on Wikipedia. SchuminWeb (Talk) 21:54, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Turning "Valley View Mall" into a disambiguation page

As a heads-up for in the future...

If you want to move an article, whether to place it at a better title or to make way for a disambiguation page at the old location (the latter which you did with Valley View Mall and Valley View Mall (Roanoke)), please make sure to properly move the articles using the [move] tab at the top of the page. This moves the talk page and page history to the new location, which keeps the article in compliance with the GFDL. This also updates people's watchlists with the new title, which is helpful for those of us watching the article. The [move] function also turns the old location into a redirect, which can then be turned into whatever if desired.

I've gone ahead and listed the two articles on Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen, so that the edit histories may be corrected. Please be mindful of the proper procedure when moving pages in the future. Thanks! SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:57, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Insidevalleyviewmall.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Insidevalleyviewmall.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Basically, the reason it was nominated for deletion is because the image was replaced by a different image under a free license. I was over at Valley View on June 13, and snapped an image of the Belk court (where all the vendors are) with my cell phone. And since I own that image, we can use it under a free license. [edit] Sports in Roanoke

Nice reordering, rewording, and additions. Thanks. —BozoTheScary 22:56, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Your mention of Roanoke Catholic is kind of nonspecific. Could you add some specific athletic achievements or remove the mention for now? As it stands, it is something of an invitation for "oh, yeah Grace Academy has a dodgeball team, too!" type stuff. Thanks. –BozoTheScary 19:56, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Salem Avalanche

Thanks for your work on the Salem Avalanche page!

[edit] Links to state routes

In accordance with WP:USSH, please do not link to the "Virginia State Route" style except where it is not clear from context what state is being referred to. Thank you. --NE2 19:11, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Please also read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters); you capitalized too many words in Interstate 581. --NE2 19:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Bowers 100x150.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bowers 100x150.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 20:17, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism?

I don't think this edit is vandalism. See [1]. However, a reliable source is needed for this and for what is currently there. --NE2 23:18, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wbhs paw.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Wbhs paw.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Salem High School (Salem, Virginia)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Salem High School (Salem, Virginia), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria.
