Vadapalani (meaning 'Northern Palani') is one of the main hubs of Chennai. It is a busy suburb, thanks to the Lord Muruga temple and its proximity to T. Nagar (the shopping district of Chennai) and Kodambakkam (the film capital of south). Vadapalani is also close to Guindy (6 km) and Koyambedu (4 km] ). It is well connected to all suburbs in Chennai and has it own bus terminus. It is one of the better suburbs in Chennai.

HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services have huge offices in Vadapalani. The TCS office, a sprawling campus in Jawaharlal Nehru Road (also called the 100 ft. road) houses nearly 3000 employees.

The Vijaya-Vauhini studios, The Prasad Colour Lab and Studios, Efx Studios and AVM studio are in Vadapalani. There are many actors and actresses living in Vadapalani. Not so famous film personalities working as stunt artistes, dancers, extras and television artistes can be spotted regularly in Vadapalani.

100 feet road sees a constant movement of buses to and from CMBT, which is just north

of Vadapalani. A bus stop near the 100 ft. and Arcot Roads intersection

is the ideal location to get out of town buses. The Vadapalani Bus

Terminus provides a starting point for many buses traveling to other

parts of Chennai. 100 feet road also provides a place to catch buses

traveling through, but not originating in, Vadapalani.

Vijaya Hospital, Vijaya Health Centre, Sooriya Hospital and Best Hospital are prominent medical centres in Chennai and are in Vadapalani. Aakash hospitals is also located in 100 feet road.

Saravana Bhavan (whose headquarters is here) is the most prominent eat-outs in this area. For meat-lovers, Ponnusamy is a good place to eat. Raahat Plaza is the preferred hang-out for youngsters. Kovai Sri Krishna sweets has a branch here as well. There are many other restaurants and fast food joints.

hotel Pandyas next to vijaya sesh mahal is famous for non veg dishes like turkey biriyani,rabbit roast, aiyarae meen and viral meen kolambu.

Vasanta Bhavan is also a good south Indian eat-out,its also called Namma Veedu. Vasantha Bhavan is located near the Vadapalani Bus Stand. A new branch has also be opened just north of Vadapalani on Jawaharlal Nehru Road (100 ft. road)

More over AVM Rajeswari and KAMALA theatre are located in Arcot Road.

Shopping Malls in the area include Doshi Gardens, which boasts a shops for various items, including a supermarket-Nilgris, electronic stores, and a fast food restaurant Marry Brown. Raahat Plaza also contains a wide range of shops.

A renowned electronics shop called mercy electronics ia a very famous shop.This shop happens to be the only place in entire south chennai next to ritchie street to buy electronic items.
