The Vacuum Tower (Dunn Solar Telescope) is a 136 feet (41.5 m) tall tower, also extending 228 more feet (69.5 m) below ground which is evacuated. It is located at the National Solar Observatory. The vacuum is used for observing the sun by removing the fluctuations of the air molecules of the atmosphone.
