Văcărescu family

The Văcărescu family was a boyar family of Wallachia (now part of Romania).
According to tradition it is one of the oldest noble families in Wallachia. Its mythical founder is said to have been a certain Kukenus, of Spanish origin, settled in Transylvania as lord over Făgăraş. Others connect the family with Ugrin, count of Făgăraş.
