Värend is one of the constituent small countries at the unification of the province Småland, in Sweden. It consists of the hundreds, or härader, Allbo Hundred, Kinnevald Hundred, Konga Hundred, Norrvidinge Hundred and Uppvidinge Hundred.

The name Värend literally means to protect (skydda, värja) referring to the fact that it was on the border to the Danish Skåneland and had a role of protecting the kingdom from invasion and skirmishes.
