There are records of Cricket being played in the Uxbridge area as far back as 1735. The official founding date of Uxbridge Cricket Club is 1789.

The first games were played on the Uxbridge Moor area of the Town, later moving to Uxbridge Common. In 1858 the Club moved again, to a field behind the Eastern end of the High Street, and remained there until 1970 when the redevelopment of the Town Centre obliged the Club to seek a new home. The move to the present site, opposite Uxbridge Common, is a return to an old haunt.

At our current location we have two grounds, together with practice facilities and the usual changing and social facilities. There is also the opportunity to play other sports such as Bowls, Rugby, Squash, and Tennis.

For a number of years Middlesex County Cricket Club played Championship and Cup matches at Uxbridge. In recent years the County team has moved out matches to Southgate Cricket Club, to the disappointment of local people.

However, Middlesex CCC have now returned to Uxbridge to play the popular new Twenty / 20 format games.

The high points of Uxbridge cricket have been the winning of the Thames Valley Cricket League in 1982 followed by reaching the Final of the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy in 2000.

Since 1989, Uxbridge has been playing in the Middlesex County League, the foremost league in the county.

Bowls:

Uxbridge Bowls Club was founded in 1908, and is currently located within the grounds of the Uxbridge Cricket Club in Park Road, Uxbridge. The Club has both male and female members of varying experience and ability. Our members have a long list of achievements in both local and County competitions, which ensures that the Club maintains a high profile within the Bowling Community. Our Green and facilities are considered amongst the very best in the County, and have led to us being chosen to host a number of prestigious matches and competitions. A full programme of fixtures is arranged throughout the outdoor season which runs from late April to end of September. These involve both single-sex and mixed games, friendlies and several local leagues which give a slightly more competitive edge. Club members meet on Tuesday evening for a 'friendly' game where the emphasis is on enjoying both the game and socializing afterwards! New members are welcome and encouraged. If you wish to learn more about the game of Bowls or the facilities on offer at Uxbridge, then please contact one of our Committee members. esent location at Gatting Way, Park Road, Uxbridge, UB8 1NR. (part of the original common). The move was financed by the sale of the Cricketfield Road ground. The freehold of Cricketfield road was acquired by the club in 1918 as a memorial to the members of the club who gave their lives in the great war of 1914-1918.

Rugby:

Uxbridge RFC was formed from two clubs, namely Borderers RFC & Old Creightonians in 1947. Both were formed when men were returning from war anxious to pick up their youth where they had left off. These became Creighton Borderers when the two merged in 1974. The two clubs had between them 5 different names and 7 different grounds before becoming "Uxbridge" in 1977 as to identify with the local town, even though at the same time the club was based in Harefield. In 1991 Uxbridge RFC merged with UxbridgeCricket Club in Park Road, Uxbridge, and is now firmly established as a playing section alongside tennis, bowls, squash and of course, cricket. The Cub currently plays in the Herts./Middx. 2South League
