UWIC Inter Cardiff F.C.

UWIC Inter Cardiff FC are a Welsh football club. Their name is inspired by Inter Milan The club has had a chequered history experiencing turbulent times and many name changes.
The club was formed by a series of mergers and name changes. Firstly, Lake United FC (The Lakers) renamed themselves AFC Cardiff in 1984. In 1990, they merged with Sully FC to form Inter Cardiff FC. In 1996, the club was renamed Inter CableTel AFC (after their sponsors), but reverted to Inter Cardiff FC in 1999.
Meanwhile, the team of Cardiff College of Education was developing (now University of Wales Institute, Cardiff). The team went through a series of name changes, mirroring the name changes of the institution it represented. The team was originally known as Cardiff College of Education FC. They became South Glamorgan Insitute FC in 1979; Cardiff Insitute of Higher Education FC in 1990 and UWIC FC in 1996.
Finally, in 2000, Inter Cardiff FC merged with UWIC FC to form UWIC Inter Cardiff FC. The team's nicknames by fans include The International, The Sheep (Wales is famous for it's sheep) or The Div's (from Car-DIFF).
The club plays in the Welsh Football League First Division and have finished each season in the top four places since being relegated from the League of Wales three years ago. UWIC Inter Cardiff comprises several men's teams as well as a women's team, and play at the Cyncoed Campus in Cardiff.
Note: They have not been called UWIC Inter Cardiff for many years. They are now merely UWIC FC.
