Uways al-Qarni

Owais Qarni (Arabic: أويس قرني) was one of the Sahaba.
[edit] Biography
Owais Qarni was the most unique among the companions Sahaba of The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). He never met The Holy Prophet, face-to-face (One of the most important conditions to be a companion of The Prophet). However he was declared a Sahaba by The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), himself. When Owais Qarni embrased Islam, her mother was old and did not allow him to go to Medina and meet The Holy Prophet. After the Battle of Uhud, he got the news that The Holy Prophet had lost His two teeth in the battle. So was his respect and love for The Holy Prophet, that he broke all his teeth, to deny any form of superiority over The Holy Prophet. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), sent his most honoured and respected companions Abu Bakr and Umar ibn Al-Khattab (May Allah be Pleased with both of them), to meet Owais in his hometown. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) told Abu Bakr and Umar some distinct features of Owais Qarni, to identify him, as The Holy Prophet had been informed about these features in a Wahi. They also delivered a gift by The Holy Prophet to Owais Qarni.
