The article parameter is optional.Warning templates should always be used with the "subst:" keyword, as strongly suggested on Wikipedia:Template substitution. They are shown without subst at right to reduce the display space occupied by the table, not to encourage their use without subst. Type {{subst:uw-biog1|...}} ~~~~, not {{uw-biog1|...}} ~~~~.
The levels of templates are:

I changed the word "can't" to "must not". Hope I'm not being too picky, but it seems to me the prior wording was wrong, as it is possible for editors to add unsourced material, it's just against policy. Heimstern Läufer 20:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
